This survey, taken at the end of the Illinois 2007 High School Challenge Conference, consists of attendee responses to the presentations and workgroups at the conference. The survey data consists of critiques of the 2007 conference, as well as suggestions for improving future meetings. Some major suggestions included having less time devoted to lectures, give more time to work group discussions, and devoting more time to sharing lessons learned (especially on data issues).

Background and Context
Providing leadership across a state's vast education system is a daunting challenge. In an era of increased accountability, the state's role is even more central to the teaching that takes place in each classroom throughout the state. Whether through the establishment and improvement of state data systems, or shifting the internal organization of the agency, states are undertaking a variety of efforts to provide stronger leadership.
