Thinking About Illinois High Schools: Your Thoughts and Reflections

This survey contains responses from principals, teachers, and other adminstrators working in Illinois schools. The questions seek reflections on what practices the respondants have learned worked best for them, their thoughts on how these practices can be replicated in other settings, challenges faced, etc. The survey also asks how data is collected and used by the respondants. It ends with reflections on achievement gaps.

Background and Context
Providing leadership across a state's vast education system is a daunting challenge. In an era of increased accountability, the state's role is even more central to the teaching that takes place in each classroom throughout the state. Whether through the establishment and improvement of state data systems, or shifting the internal organization of the agency, states are undertaking a variety of efforts to provide stronger leadership.
