The purpose of this report is to inform the reader on ongoing efforts to improve high schools in the state of New Hampshire. The report describes the creation of the High School Leadership Team in 2004, and then chronicles a number of stakeholder workshops, forums, and focus groups held throughout that year. The compilation of these collaborative efforts led to the drafting of the New Hampshire Vision for High Schools.

Background and Context
Providing leadership across a state's vast education system is a daunting challenge. In an era of increased accountability, the state's role is even more central to the teaching that takes place in each classroom throughout the state. Whether through the establishment and improvement of state data systems, or shifting the internal organization of the agency, states are undertaking a variety of efforts to provide stronger leadership.
