Source: Washington Educational Service District 101 Date: 2007
The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s (OSPI) has created an online tool for developing Student Learning Plans (SLP). The goal of Washington’s SLP is to make sure every student gets the help needed to stay on track and graduate from high school. All school districts are required to provide a plan for every student who is not successful on any or all of the content areas of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL). The Educational Service District 101’s (ESD 101) website includes a link to a demonstration web portal designed for to allow its district personnel to explore how to set up student groups and assign interventions. This website also includes an SLP Process Guide, Application Guide, and Quickstart Guide. This demonstration website and the supporting materials are free to access by any educator wishing to develop individual learning plans.

Background and Context
Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) are personalized student education plans that include information such as high school courses, post- secondary education and career interests, and extracurricular activities.  State approaches to developing and implementing ILPs are as varied as the information that goes into them. But even with those differences, common purposes and similar challenges drive states to require their students to complete ILPs.
