Adolescent Literacy
These resources include curriculum guides designed to improve adolescent literacy instruction in all subject areas, professional development tools to help teachers identify and address literacy challenges students face, and a comprehensive adolescent literacy toolkit designed by CCSSO, with the help of multiple partners, to help content area teachers learn how to integrate literacy best practices into their instruction to strengthen both students' literacy skills and their grasp of core content.

This model seeks to ensure reading success by providing a comprehensive action plan for instruction. The Washington State K-12 Reading Model presents a framework to reform reading instruction, primarily aimed towards teachers. The ultimate aim of the framework is to teach children to read before grade three. The Model presents a guide to standards, assessment, instruction and intervention, leadership, and system-wide commitment, which are its core-principles. A comprehensive action plan is also presented in three phases which schools can enter at any point.
