About CCSSO SSR

Welcome to the CCSSO Secondary School Redesign (SSR) Web Portal. This portal provides a wealth of information for you and your colleagues to use as you undertake the vital and challenging work of secondary school redesign.

The portal is designed to provide key resources as you work to enhance secondary school redesign efforts to support instruction, facilitate student transitions into and out of high school, and provide leadership in your state. Within the portal, you will find relevant research reports, state planning documents, case studies of redesign efforts, and tools that can help move a state vision for secondary school redesign to practice. These resources, created by states, are available for the first time in one place, providing you with a one-stop shop of the best secondary school redesign resources from across the nation.

In addition to resources created by states, the portal contains resources from and links to independent regional and national organizations that are involved in the work of secondary school redesign. These resources help to provide a larger context for the state resources available through the portal.

This portal remains a work in progress and will continue to grow as you and your colleagues from across the country submit resources from your states. To suggest a resource to be included in the portal, please send an email to highschool@ccsso.org that includes the title, state, and, if possible, a copy of or link to the resource.

We hope that you will submit resources, give us feedback on how you're using the portal, and share the portal with your colleagues. Click on the links below for information you can use to introduce the portal to your colleagues.

Background and Context

States expressed the need for this SSR portal during CCSSO’s Secondary School Redesign Meeting in Austin, Texas, in April 2007. Teams from 36 states participated in cross-state work sessions with a goal of developing consensus-based recommendations for how CCSSO could actively support ongoing state efforts in high-leverage areas of secondary school redesign. As a result of that meeting, CCSSO and partners used the state feedback to produce the SSR Web Portal as part of its Secondary School Redesign Project. It is supported with funds from the U.S. Department of Education.
